The
Partnerships & Blended Finance (CBF) Department plays a critical role in
advancing IFC's strategic objectives by mobilizing concessional catalytic
capital and donor resources, managing relationships with bilateral and
multilateral development partners, foundations, philanthropies, and other
strategic stakeholders, and deploying blended finance solutions that help
de-risk investments and attract private capital into high-impact projects. The
department supports IFC's efforts to expand investment opportunities in
frontier and emerging markets, particularly in areas where commercial financing
alone is insufficient to address market barriers or perceived risk
The
Portfolio Operations (CBFPO) unit in CBF oversees the integration of blended
finance and fundraising operations into IFC’s systems and processes,
strengthens portfolio supervision, improves operational efficiency, and
provides analytics, automation, and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities
• The
Blended Finance Data Analytics Intern will be part of the CBFPO unit and will
support data analytics, reporting automation, and the development of
data-driven insights for Blended Finance and fundraising operations.
• Contribute to Blended Finance and Fundraising analytics by identifying trends, drivers, performance patterns, and forward-look recommendations to Management.
• Apply advanced data analytics, visualization, and AI-enabled techniques to generate insights from Blended Finance and Fundraising data.
• Explore opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and generative AI solutions to improve data quality and data gaps.
Selection Criteria
• Candidates must be currently enrolled in, or in the final year of, a postgraduate (master’s/PhD) program
• Demonstrated experience through coursework, academic research, internships, or employment in financial services, investment analysis, data analytics, or related disciplines.
• Understanding of financial products, investment processes, financial institutions, capital markets, or development finance.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with experience working with large and complex datasets.
• Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools, particularly Power BI.
• Knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, generative AI, data automation, and advanced analytics tools and their practical application to business problems.
• Academic background must align with the requirements outlined in the job description
• Demonstrated interest in development work and the World Bank Group’s mission
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in diverse, team-based environments
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines
