How can you make a difference?

The WASH Officer reports to the WASH Manager (Level 4) in Gaza for supervision. The WASH Officer provides technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process. The Officer prepares, manages and implements a variety of technical and administrative tasks, related to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the WASH output results of the country programme.

The Officer specifically will work on supplies for water, sanitation and hygiene interventions along the supplies management cycle of identification, procurement, transport, warehousing, entry approvals and distribution/use.

Minimum requirements:

• Education: An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: civil, sanitary, water, environmental engineering another relevant technical field.
• Work Experience: A minimum of two years of professional work experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries is required.
• Skills: Success in this position requires solid experience in programme management, monitoring and evaluation, and approval processes, complemented by environmental engineering knowledge, strong reporting skills, and the ability to facilitate effectively.
• Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

Desirables:

• Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
• Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement/supplement the main degree are a strong asset.
• Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF.
