Job Description:
Purpose of the Position
The WASH Innovations and Partnerships Engagement Specialist will support the WASH Associate Director to identify and adopt new initiatives in the sector and conduct strategic engagement roles at National Level. Apart from the identification of new initiatives, the role will coordinate and support the scaling up of innovative models from the Ahafo Regional Integrated WASH Project to other WVG intervention areas.
The role will work with the Associate WASH Director to ensure that WV Ghana is represented in national WASH fora, participate in government and donor WASH initiatives, identifying opportunities for funding, learning and policy influencing and partnerships. Network with agencies at the Regional and National levels to foster synergy, information sharing and scaling up of GI-WASH interventions and participate in the development of concept papers, human interest stories and proposals for mobilization of additional resources.
Being a role based at the Head Office - Accra, the WASH Innovations and strategic engagement specialist will also support the WASH Associate Director in arranging logistics for all WASH program visitors, and Senior Leadership Team and Senior Management Team visits that will happen to government and partner offices.
Key Responsibilities
Promote New Initiatives
- In consultation with the WASH Associate Director, initiate and support identification of new initiatives and innovations in the WASH Sector.
- Coordinate and support the scaling up of innovative models from the Ahafo Regional Integrated WASH Project to other WVG intervention areas
- Implement new initiatives (including the School Sanitation Solutions Challenge) aimed at increasing Child Participation in WASH and building their capacity to become agents of change and co-create sustainable WASH solutions that last
- Coordinate the WASH thought leadership initiatives at the national level including executive breakfast conversation and other initiatives.
Advocacy and Policy Influence
- In consultation with the WASH Associate Director, support the identification of national level partnerships and follow up the preparation, signing, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of MoUs to support the implementation of the Universal WASH Program.
- Support in WASH sector researches in partnership with academia, research institutions and other organizations to generate evidence that would support knowledge management, inform policy and programming decisions.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to influence national and sub-national policies, remove barriers and promote access to sustainable WASH services for children and their families, especially the poor and vulnerable.
- In liaison with the WASH Associate Director, support the GI-WASH teams and help in defining advocacy related intervention targets for all GI-WASH implementing area programs whilst ensuring that targets are met timely within approved budgets.
- Network with Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, development partners, civil society and relevant stakeholders to foster synergies and promote information sharing.
- Represent WV Ghana on all relevant WASH sector platforms when requested by the WASH Associate Director.
- Feedback to WV Ghana on the policy dynamics and context- specific WASH concerns at the National level, to inform programmes and projects designs that meets National and Global WASH standards.
- Provide technical support to existing and new advocacy coalitions to promote WV and sector efforts at greater prioritization and increased financing for sustainable WASH services delivery.
Resource Mobilization
- Support the WASH resources development in alignment with the new NO strategy and the FY 26-30 WASH Business Plan.
- Take up further responsibilities on the Universal WASH Initiative in Ghana including: engage with donors and mobilize more funding through engagements with corporate Ghana, Government donors and others to ensure full and continuous funding for Universal WASH in Ghana.
- Produce and/or review concept notes, human interest stories, fact sheets and capacity statement in WASH to generate donor support and participate actively to all WASH grant/PNS project proposal design for mobilization of additional resources.
- Support the WASH Associate Director to meet donor requirements and take necessary steps to share GI-WASH Program outcomes and best practices with existing and potential donors
Qualifications:
- Degree in hydrogeology (Master's is added advantage) , and/or engineering, behavioral science, public health, project management Experience: 8 years of experience in similar field, two of which should be in the WASH sector
- Deep understanding and hands-on experience in supporting donor-funded projects, including strategic and business planning skills; partnership management and a good appreciation of financial management.
- Deep understanding of community-based approaches, including clear involvement of children, women and People with Disabilities in the hygiene promotion and others sector that are related to WASH. · Ability to build trust and relationships, organize people and manage performance of teams. · Strong public relations, networking and communication, coordination and advocacy skills. · Excellent skills in speaking, reading and writing English. · Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities. · Attend and participate/lead in daily devotions.

Other Requirements:
- Experience in the water, sanitation and hygiene sector is required.
- Strong management training and capacity building skills
- Good planning and organizational skills
- External engagement, networking and partnership skills
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and sector stakeholders
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Familiarity & Knowledge of mWater is an advantage
- Good communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- The preferred candidate must be a committed Christian.
Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement
- Ability to work with large diversity of individuals and groups in rural and remote areas with diverse culture and believes,
- Ability to undertake long term travel in diverse regions, including remote area
- On call: Available for communication with partners and colleagues
