WASH ENGINEER- SHORT-TERM CONTRACT
World Vision is a child-focused Christian humanitarian organization implementing development programmes in 30 Districts of Rwanda. Our interventions in the strategic period of 2026-2030 seek to reach 2.5 million of the most vulnerable children. This is done through programming in Child Protection, and Education, Nutrition and WASH, and Poverty Alleviation (Resilience and Livelihoods).
World Vision Rwanda seeks to hire a highly qualified, dedicated and experienced Rwandan national for the role of WASH Engineer, joining an established and experienced team. This position incorporates a range of skills and development in multiple areas, allowing for an exciting opportunity for career growth in a dynamic, global organization. It will be based in Kigali, Rwanda and reports to the WASH Technical Design Manager.
Purpose of the position:
The WASH Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision, quality assurance, and progress tracking of construction activities undertaken by contracted firms at 18 selected HCFs and 7 School located in three districts namely Rutsiro, Rusizi and Nyamasheke. The role ensures that the contractors deliver high-quality WASH infrastructure in full compliance with approved technical designs, BOQs, national standards, World Vision Infrastructure Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plan and donor requirements. The position holder will be stationed in Nyungwe cluster’s office, Nyamasheke district and will frequently be traveling to the above-mentioned districts

· Supervise contractors during the construction and installation of WASH facilities (e.g., water supply systems, sanitation blocks, waste management systems, incinerators, handwashing stations, etc.).
· Verify adherence to technical drawings, BOQs, national building codes, MoH WASH in HCF standards, and WVR quality benchmarks.
· Conduct regular site inspections and produce technical site visit reports. Flag and document any design deviations or contractor noncompliance.
· Develop and maintain a site supervision schedule for the ongoing constructions projects.
· Track construction progress against the implementation plan and submit weekly and monthly progress reports to WVR.
· Recommend corrective actions where construction timelines or quality standards are at risk.
· Facilitate and document site meetings and joint inspections with district officials, health facility management, and partners.
· Timely map completed WASH infrastructures in mWater
· Water resources development studies and designs meet the required standards.
· Water resource investigation reports are well prepared and of high quality.
· WASH and health infrastructure services are properly maintained.
· Bills of Quantities (BoQs), cost estimates, technical specifications, tender documents, and Terms of Reference (ToR) are prepared in a timely manner and to a high standard.
· Proper documentation of WASH infrastructure project implementation is ensured.
· Projects are completed on time, and infrastructure quality is maintained.
· Completed WASH infrastructures are mapped and reported in the mWater Output Monitoring Survey (OMS).

· Timely monitoring of WASH, health and development projects to ensure they meet intended goals and strict adherence to the Rwanda government regulations WHO and the SPHERE standards.
· Report on the progress of the project on regular basis as required by the reporting schedule i.e. weekly, monthly, semi-annually and donor reports.
· All completed WASH and health infrastructures are timely branded and handed over to the district or institutions for post management,
