TITLE: WASH and Construction Officer.
TEAM/PROGRAMME:
LOCATION: Katsina, Nigeria

CONTRACT LENGTH:

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
Save the Children Nigeria is implementing a two-year ECHO-HIP-funded integrated Education in Emergencies (EiE) and Child Protection response project in Yobe and Katsina States, aimed at restoring safe, inclusive, and protective learning environments for crisis-affected girls and boys, including children with disabilities.
The programme combines Accelerated Basic Education for out-of-school and overage learners with Literacy/Numeracy Boost and Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approaches in formal schools to support learning recovery, reduce dropout, and promote reintegration into education. School safety and safeguarding will be strengthened through teacher training, child help desks, and risk-informed programming. In addition, the rehabilitation of classrooms and WASH in Schools infrastructure will improve safety, accessibility, ventilation, and lighting, including disability-friendly features such as ramps to the leaners.
The WASH and Construction Officer will be responsible for the technical oversight of all construction-related activities, including feasibility assessments, design preparation, BoQ development, tender documentation, and procurement support in collaboration with the Supply Chain team. The role will also provide supervision of contractors, conduct regular field monitoring, and ensure compliance with SCI construction standards in close coordination with the Education team, Supply Chain and relevant stakeholders in Katsina and Yobe States.
