The Private Sector Partnerships Division (PSP) builds partnerships with the private sector that enable IOM's strategic priorities and engage the private sector as a key stakeholder in migration through impactful and innovative partnerships. PSP leads strategic outreach and engagement with the private sector and provides Headquarters, Regional and Country Offices with assistance and expertise relating to initiating, establishing and maintaining partnerships with the private sector. PSP is responsible for the development and implementation of IOM’s Private Sector Strategy which provides a framework on how IOM engages with the private sector to support IOM’s work. PSP oversees engagement with the private sector, establishes and coordinates IOM’s private sector partnerships due diligence process, builds staff capacity in private sector partnership-building and oversees the Goodwill Ambassador programme and celebrity engagement programme.
IOM works with private sector actors on a broad range of IOM activities, including humanitarian assistance, health, labour migration and counter-trafficking. IOM’s interaction with the private sector is multifaceted; the Organization has received technological, financial, human resources and other support from the private sector to save and improve the lives of those that are most affected by conflicts or natural disasters, or those suffering from lack of opportunity. In addition, IOM partners with companies and foundations to help enhance its operational and strategic performance as well as to gather data and advocate regarding migration issues.
Under the direct technical supervision of the Head of Partnerships and Pipeline Unit and with the direct administrative supervision to the Chief, Global and Domestics Programme Unit in Washington, and in close collaboration with IOM’s Regional Offices, the Senior Private Sector Engagement Officer will be based in Washington and will be responsible and accountable for the development and management of partnerships with private sector stakeholders. The incumbent will be responsible for mobilizing resources, fostering changes in corporate values and practices, enhancing the protection of migrants’ rights, generating innovative technical partnerships that leverage business expertise and capabilities, and growing flexible funding to support global programme implementation.

External applicants for all positions in the Professional category are required to be proficient in English and have at least a working knowledge of one additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
For all applicants, fluency in English is required (oral and written).

Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an advantage.
