About the Institute
UNU Institute in Macau (UNU Macau) is one of 13 research and training Institutes that comprise the think tanks in the UNU system. UNU Macau is dedicated to research, training, and education on digital technologies for sustainable development. It promotes evidence-based actions and policies to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
UNU Macau is located in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China, the only UN entity in the city. Responsibilities
The Training & Educational team of the Institute is expected to support Institute’s goals and achievements on training, education and degree programs in collaboration with internal and external partners.
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Training & Educational Officer, the appointee will be entrusted with the following tasks:
1. Design and plan training programs
- Support the Supervisor in developing comprehensive training programs aligned with institutional goals and KPIs.
- Conduct training needs assessments through surveys and stakeholder interviews under the guidance of the Supervisor.
- Co-design modules, workshops, and instructional materials in accordance with UNU standards. Prepare course materials with compliance with UN and UNU standards.
- Collaborate with subject experts to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
- Organize training schedules, venues, and manage logistical arrangements.
- Establish evaluation criteria to assess training effectiveness.
2. Deliver and facilitate learning experiences
- Lead engaging in-person and virtual training sessions as assigned.
- Tailor delivery methods based on audience size, prior knowledge, and real-time feedback.
- Foster interactive learning environments and address participant inquiries.
- Monitor engagement and adjust facilitation techniques to optimize learning outcomes.
3. Client and stakeholder Coordination
- Identify potential clients, both internally and externally; and support the Supervisor in marketing the Institute’s training offerings.
- Serve as the primary liaison to understand client needs and ensure successful program delivery. Negotiate training contracts under the guidance of the Supervisor.
- Customize training content and delivery formats to meet client expectations.
- Communicate timelines, logistics, and program details clearly and professionally.
4. Evaluating and enhancing training effectiveness
- Develop post-training surveys and performance metrics.
- Collect and analyze feedback, assessments, and performance data to evaluate training outcomes.
- Generate reports on training effectiveness, impact, and if necessary, return on investment.
- Recommend and implement improvements based on evaluation insights.
5. Supporting organizational development and documentation
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, and compliance documentation contributing to the Institute’s KPI, according to UN and UNU standards.
- Update training programs from time to time in response to priorities of the Institute and the clients.
- Prepare and archive training certifications and archive related documentation.
6. Conducting research as per the Institute’s KPI
- Investigate emerging trends, best practices, and instructional technologies to enhance training relevance.
- Review academic literature and industry publications to inform program development.
- Produce research contributions to projects or programmes as instructed by the Institute’s research leads.
7. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Institute Management

- Support to the Supervisor in delivering KPIs with fund raising results.
