Organizational Context and Scope

Under the direct supervision of the Migrant Protection Officer, in close coordination with the Protection Focal Point, and under the overall supervision of the Migrant Protection Coordinator, the selected candidate will assist in planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring protection activities under IOM DRC programmes.

Responsibilities

1. Under the direct supervision of the Migrant Protection Officer, in close coordination with the Protection Focal Point, and under the overall supervision of the Migrant Protection Coordinator, the selected candidate will assist in planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring protection activities under IOM DRC programmes.
2. Assist, in consultation with the Protection Officer, in planning and implementing project activities related to the Return Reintegration in DRC, in line with IOM rules and procedures.
3. Assist in ensuring effective coordination of program activities with DRC government authorities, protection partners, other IOM units in DRC.
4. Assist in monitoring and planning program project expenditures.
5. Contribute to regular monitoring and evaluation of project activities; identify implementation challenges and propose corrective measures.
6. Assist in preparing monthly, interim, and final activity reports; prepare briefings on the progress of various activities.
7. Contribute to organizing program-related meetings, workshops, and seminars, including drafting TORs, agendas, recommendations, and reports.
8. Represent IOM, upon delegation by the Migrant Protection Officer or the Migrant Protection Coordinator, in meetings, forums, and other events involving partners.
9. Conduct field missions to support project implementation.
10. Assist in supervising procurement procedures and subcontractors under the project, ensuring compliance with IOM rules and procedures.
11. Draft project report.
12. Perform any other duties necessary for the effective implementation of the project.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

• University degree in social sciences, international relations, international human rights law, psychology, or a related field, with at least.
• Four years of experience in protection of persons; experience assisting migrants is an asset.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

• Master’s degree in the same fields with at least **two years of experience** in protection; experience assisting migrants is an asset.
• Excellent knowledge of the project cycle and project management practices.
• High proficiency in IT tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, web tools).
• Interest and knowledge in migration issues, human trafficking, smuggling of migrants, and the regional security context.
• Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills.
• Ability to build close and effective working relationships; ability to work independently and harmoniously in a multicultural team.
• Ability to meet objectives, including in complex situations; personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, and motivation.

Languages

All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).

For this position Full proficiency in French and English at least one local language is required.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
