VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Project Manager – Nature Based Solutions for Flood Resilience
Plan International is an independent non-profit organization that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. Working in building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years and present on 70 countries, Plan International strives for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children while working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners.
We're recruiting a Project Manager to lead a community-driven, gender-transformative Nature-based Solutions (NbS) project in Fiji's Nadi catchment, delivered through Fiji Climate Adaptation Programme (FCAP) funded by the Australian Government. This work focuses on reducing flood risk and strengthening climate-resilient livelihoods through a coordinated bundle of NbS — including sloping land management, vetiver grass slope stabilisation, targeted reforestation, riparian restoration and agroforestry — co-designed and implemented with highland and lowland communities, with women and youth positioned as leaders throughout.
The project is delivered by a consortium comprising Plan International Fiji (government coordination), Partners in Community Development Fiji (PCDF) (community implementation), and Plan International Australia (technical and compliance lead), working alongside the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways, Ministry of Forestry, Fiji Meteorological Service/NDRMO and Ba Provincial Council. This role will be based in Suva, Fiji Islands and will report to Pacific Humanitarian and Resilience Manager
Do you have what it takes to be successful in this role?
Technical Expertise and Knowledge
We're particularly keen to hear from candidates based in Fiji, with existing relationships with Fiji Government partners and a deep understanding of community-based approaches in rural and peri-urban settings. If you bring strong technical and program management expertise, are passionate about community-led climate action, and want your work to directly reduce flood risk for some of Fiji's most vulnerable communities — we'd love to hear from you.
Please note that only applications and CVs written in English will be accepted. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If you have any queries regarding your application please email Josephine.Vere@plan-international.org with the position title in the subject of your email. References will be taken and background and antiterrorism checks will be carried out in conformity with Plans Child Protection Policy. Plan operates an equal opportunities policy and actively encourages diversity, welcoming applications from all persons meeting the skills and experience required. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
