Under the ISHONCH-funded project “Empowering Education in Uzbekistan: Leveraging ICT and Digital Learning for High-Quality and Inclusive Education Results,” UNESCO supports the strengthening of inclusive and high-quality teacher education in Uzbekistan through:
* Renovation and operationalization of three Centres of Pedagogical Excellence (CPEs);
* Development of a new Conceptual Model for Centres of Pedagogical Excellence;
* Development of the National ICT and AI Competency Framework for Teachers;
* Training of 300 mentors in ICT and AI, pedagogy, and andragogy.
As part of the project, a nationwide call for mentor applications was conducted between November 2025 and June 2026. Following a rigorous selection process, including desk reviews and interviews around 800 mentors, and around 400 were selected. The project wants to archive the voices of the teachers and follow the selected mentors journey. To support this work, we are looking for a Junior National Consultant on Oral History.
The Junior consultant will help transform recorded interviews with mentors into accurate written transcripts. The interviews capture personal experiences, professional trajectories, motivations, challenges, and reflections related to education, digital learning, ICT, AI, and teacher professional development in Uzbekistan.
The collected testimonies will contribute to a publication and narrative documentation project centered on the voices and lived experiences of the selected mentors.
The duration of the contract 1 month.
Deliverable:
Transcription and formatting of approximately 120- 150 hours of Uzbek-language and/or Russian laungage interview recordings with UNESCO mentor candidates and selected mentors, resulting in a complete set of verified transcripts ready for qualitative analysis and publication development.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Social Sciences, Education, Anthropology, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
No prior professional work experience is required.
Recent graduates and early-career candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Training and guidance on transcription standards and project requirements will be provided.
