Duties s Responsibilities of Job:
1/Clinical Services
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and treatment for adults and children with moderate to severe mental health conditions.
Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications in accordance with IRC, WHO (mhGAP), and national guidelines.
Manage psychiatric emergencies, including suicide risk, acute psychosis, severe mood disorders, and trauma-related conditions.
Provide brief, evidence-based psychological interventions when clinically appropriate.
Ensure confidentiality, informed consent, and ethical clinical practice at all times.
2/Technical Support & Supervision
•
Provide regular clinical supervision and mentoring to medical officers, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and other MHPSS staff.
•
Support task-sharing approaches and effective implementation of WHO mhGAP.
•
Conduct on-the-job coaching and formal capacity-building trainings for health staff and partners.
•
Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and clinical review meetings.
3/Program Development & Quality Improvement
•
Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of MHPSS activities.
•
Ensure effective integration of mental health services into primary health care facilities and community-based programs.
•
Contribute to development and adaptation of clinical tools, SOPs, and referral pathways.
•
Monitor service quality and recommend corrective actions as needed.
4/Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
•
Ensure accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of all clinical activities.
•
Contribute to routine data collection, analysis, and reporting in line with IRC, national, and donor requirements.
•
Support quality assurance processes and compliance with safeguarding, ethical, and protection standards.
5/Coordination & Representation
•
Coordinate closely with other IRC sectors, including Protection, GBV, Child Protection, and Health.
•
Participate in inter-agency coordination forums, referral networks, and technical working groups.
•
Provide technical input for community awareness, psychoeducation, and stigma-reduction activities related to mental health.
•
Maintain strong collaboration with SMOH, health facility staff, and relevant stakeholders.
6/Other Duties
•
Perform any other tasks assigned by the Health Manager in line with program needs.
Required Qualifications, Experience s Skills
•
Education: University degree in Medicine
•
Postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry (MD, MRCPsych, or equivalent).
•
Work Experience: Minimum 3 years previous work experience.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
•
Experience in project management in humanitarian organizations
•
Experience in staff management and developing staff capacity
•
Ability to write clear and concise reports to meet required reporting deadlines
•
Able to work independently while being a strong team player
•
Competence with Windows, Microsoft Office
•
Proficient in English language (written and spoken) and in Arabic language (spoken) is required.
•
Good competency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
