The Laboratory and Diagnostic Officer supports implementation of the Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems (STRIDES) Activity in Indonesia, with a primary focus on strengthening veterinary laboratory systems and zoonotic disease detection in STRIDES priority provinces, including Banten, West Java, and Central Java.
The role provides hands-on technical implementation support for laboratory strengthening activities across the veterinary laboratory network, including Disease Investigation Centers (DICs/BVet/BBVet), national reference laboratories, and selected sub-national animal health laboratories. The position focuses on strengthening diagnostic capacity, laboratory systems, biosafety and biosecurity (BSS), quality management systems (QMS), specimen referral systems, laboratory data systems, and outbreak preparedness for zoonotic diseases with pandemic potential, including Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI).
Working closely with the Senior Laboratory and Diagnostic Officers, STRIDES Indonesia team, HQ technical teams, and government counterparts, particularly the Ministry of Agriculture, the officer will support implementation activities, coordination with laboratories and stakeholders, monitoring implementation progress, and development of technical reports and materials.
The role also supports coordination with surveillance, data, and outbreak response teams to strengthen One Health collaboration and support the 7-1-7 target for early detection, reporting, and outbreak response.
