Due to a new funding opportunity, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks to recruit suitable candidates to implement a potential humanitarian response that is expected to focus on addressing urgent protection and multi‑sector needs in areas classified as high‑severity humanitarian contexts, where newly arrived and existing refugee populations continue to face significant protection risks. The planned intervention will prioritize rapid, life‑saving activities targeting vulnerable individuals and households and will be implemented across Kiryandongo, Palorinya, Palabek, and Adjumani refugee settlements. SCOPE OF WORK: The Knowledge Management and Documentation Officer will support the Protection Project by strengthening systems for documentation, learning, and knowledge sharing related to protection services, cash assistance, and shelter interventions. Working closely with the MEAL team and program staff, the officer will ensure that program experiences, lessons learned, best practices, and beneficiary feedback are systematically captured and translated into knowledge products that inform program improvement, donor reporting, and organizational learning. This role will contribute to strengthening evidence-based programming by ensuring that project information, case studies, learning briefs, and program documentation are well organized and accessible. Key responsibilities: Strengthening Knowledge Management Systems Support the development and implementation of a Knowledge Management and Learning Plan for the Protection project. Establish and maintain a centralized knowledge repository for reports, assessments, case studies, and learning products. Develop systems for capturing and organizing knowledge related to Protection, Cash Assistance, and Shelter programming. Promote the use of digital knowledge platforms and tools to enhance learning and information sharing across teams. Support the integration of learning and knowledge management within the program cycle. Program Documentation Document project implementation processes, achievements, innovations, and challenges. Develop high-quality knowledge products, including Case studies, Success stories and human-interest stories, Lessons learned briefs, best practice documentation and technical summaries and learning reports Document cash assistance interventions, including beneficiary experiences and post-distribution learning. Document shelter interventions, including construction progress, community engagement, and project impact. Ensure documentation adheres to protection principles, confidentiality, and ethical standards. Support Learning and Knowledge Sharing Facilitate learning sessions, reflection meetings, and after-action reviews with programming teams. Support the development of learning agenda, learning briefs and evidence summaries to inform program improvements. Organize knowledge-sharing workshops, webinars, and learning forums. Promote cross-learning between Protection, Cash, Shelter, and MEAL teams. Support dissemination of knowledge products at settlement, district, regional, and national levels. Support Evidence Generation and Communication Collect and document beneficiary stories, impact stories, and testimonials demonstrating program outcomes. Translate technical information into accessible knowledge products such as briefs, infographics, and presentations. Support program teams in packaging information for donor reports and technical documentation. Work closely with programming teams to ensure program data and learning inform decision-making. Coordination and Collaboration Work closely with Protection, Cash, Shelter, and MEAL teams to ensure timely documentation of project activities. Collaborate with communications teams and partners to strengthen knowledge dissemination. Participate in learning and knowledge-sharing platforms within IRC and with external partners. Support coordination of learning events, workshops, and program review meetings. Education and Technical Competencies: Bachelor’s degree in Knowledge Management, Communications, Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Information Science, or related field. Postgraduate qualifications in Knowledge Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, or Information Management will be an added advantage. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in knowledge management, documentation, communications, or program learning within humanitarian or development programs Experience working in protection, cash assistance, or shelter programming is an added advantage. Experience working in refugees or humanitarian contexts is highly desirable. Demonstrated experience producing knowledge products and documentation materials. Experience supporting MEAL processes and program reporting is an added advantage. Strong documentation, writing, and editing skills. Ability to translate complex technical information into clear and engaging knowledge products. Experience managing digital knowledge repositories and documentation systems. Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills. Good understanding of humanitarian protection principles and ethical documentation practices. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
