Job Summary: The Infection Prevention and Control (IPC )Technical Officer will support the day-to-day implementation of infection prevention and control activities under the STRIDES Jordan Activity. Working under the supervision of the AMR & IPC Advisor, the Technical Officer will provide technical and operational support across IPC workstreams, assist in the development of IPC-related tools and materials, and coordinate with health facility staff, government counterparts, and implementing partners as directed. The position contributes to IPC systems strengthening, capacity building, donor reporting, and workplan tracking, and ensures project activities are implemented in alignment with WHO IPC core components and Jordan’s national IPC guidelines. Accountabilities: Provides technical support for the implementation of IPC activities in alignment with Jordan’s national IPC guidelines and the WHO IPC core components framework. Supports strengthening of IPC practices at the facility and national levels, including assessments, gap analyses, and improvement planning. Assists in the development and dissemination of IPC tools, standard precautions guidance, training materials, and technical briefs for health facility staff. Monitors and maintains IPC project protocols, instruments, data sets, manuals, and training materials. Conducts searches of published literature on evolving issues in IPC, healthcare-associated infections, and related public health areas. Responds to technical requests and inquiries from internal and external staff related to IPC activities. Supports implementation of IPC activities under the STRIDES Jordan workplan and tracks delivery of outputs against agreed timelines. Ensures IPC technical implementation is consistent with best practices and meets donor contractual obligations. Supports engagement with the Ministry of Health and health facilities on IPC standards and practices, as directed by the AMR & IPC Advisor. Coordinates with operations and finance teams to support timely and on-budget implementation of IPC activities. Drafts IPC technical progress reports and contributes to all donor reporting requirements. Prepares and delivers presentations on IPC progress to the project team and relevant stakeholders. Contributes to the development and review of annual workplans and IPC technical deliverables. Assists with the development of proposals and IPC technical design documents, based on direction from technical leadership. Applied Knowledge & Skills: Working knowledge of IPC and related public health areas, including familiarity with WHO IPC core components and standard precautions guidelines. Understanding of Jordan’s health system and national IPC landscape, including relevant Ministry of Health structures and policies, is an advantage. Experience supporting IPC programs at the facility or national level in Jordan or the broader MENA region preferred. Professional proficiency in both Arabic and English, written and verbal, is required. Strong organizational and analytical skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Proficiency in MS Office and relevant data management tools. Ability to analyze and interpret IPC data, identify gaps, and prepare clear and accurate reports. Supervision Given/Received: Reports to the AMR & IPC Advisor. Has no formal supervisory responsibility; may provide guidance to junior or support staff. Education: Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent in Nursing, Public Health, Infection Control, or a related clinical or health field.. Experience: Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience in IPC, nursing, clinical health, or a related public health field. Experience supporting IPC programs at the facility or national level in Jordan or the MENA region preferred. Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization, government agency, or private organization operating in the public health or global health security space.
