Purpose of Consultancy:
The consultant will support WHO/Europe to facilitate team development by providing teams with a structured process for recurring reflection, learning, and continuous improvement.
Overview of the programme
Following a period of significant organizational restructuring and downsizing at WHO EURO, team coaching initiatives highlighted the need for ongoing team support: opportunities for facilitated reflection, identifying psychosocial working conditions that affect team wellbeing and effectiveness, as well as necessary changes needed to maintain team resilience and adaptability. These findings are aligned with research in organizational psychology demonstrating that externally facilitated regular opportunities to reflect, realign, and adapt greatly benefit teams’ health and functioning.
In order to institutionalize ongoing team development as part of the organization's broader commitment to organizational effectiveness, staff wellbeing, and psychosocial risk management, a team of highly experienced coaches are needed to complement existing internal support mechanisms by providing teams with a structured process for recurring reflection, learning, and continuous improvement.
Key Duties
Deliverables
a. Over the course of the assignment, the coach will provide each assigned team/group with a maximum of eight team development sessions, depending on available funding. The content and the focus of the sessions will be tailored to each team and will be in line with the structured team development process outlined in the attached Framework for Ongoing Team Development.
b. During the course of work with each team, the coach will observe, record and discuss existing or emerging psychosocial risks, in line with the structured process outlined in the attached Framework for Ongoing Team Development. Whenever quantitative results of the Psychosocial Risk Assessment, administered biannually in WHO EURO, are available, the coach will facilitate the interpretation and the discussion of the results. The training on the specific tools used by WHO to assess and manage psychosocial risks will be provided.
c. Participate in regular intervision sessions to discuss ongoing challenges and to align on the approach.
