Duties and Responsibilities
The individual contractor is located within the Advocacy and Outreach Unit of UN-OHRLLS. He/she will report directly to the Head of the Advocacy and Outreach Unit or another designated officer, under the overall supervision of the Director of UN-OHRLLS. UN-OHRLLS is undertaking enhanced advocacy, communications, and outreach efforts in preparation for the Midterm Review (MTR) of the Doha Programme of Action, scheduled for 2027. These efforts aim to raise global awareness of the Doha Programme of Action and the ongoing development challenges faced by Least Developed Countries, while strengthening engagement with Member States, UN system partners, civil society, youth, and other stakeholders. Given current capacity constraints, dedicated technical expertise is required to strengthen digital communications, branding, and outreach—particularly through the refurbishment of the LDC-V conference website, enhancements to the UN-OHRLLS corporate website, and the production of digital and multimedia advocacy materials.
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced university degree in public information, communications, journalism, marketing, web development, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree combined with additional qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Skills and Competencies • Proficiency in MS Office applications is required. • Strong verbal and written communication skills is required. • Advanced expertise in website content management systems, particularly Drupal, is required. • Proficiency with graphic design and multimedia software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Canva) is required. • Solid understanding of digital communications strategies, user experience (UX) design, and accessibility standards is required. A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public information, strategic communications, web development, or related fields is required. Experience working with international organizations and knowledge management platforms is highly desirable. Prior experience with the United Nations system is an asset.
Languages
For this position, fluency in English (oral and written) is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
