UNRWA is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and is mandated to provide assistance and protection to a population of some 5.8 million registered Palestine refugees. The post is an integral part of the complementary personnel section structure being the only support staff position. The incumbent of the post assists the HR Specialist in the administration of the complementary personnel profile and assist with the recruitment. The post is needed and must be regularized and as such we plan to establish a fixed term post. The incumbent reports to Head Area Complementary Personnel Services Section, HQ (Amman) and will be responsible for providing HR Services.
Responsibilities
Supports in data management, review, research and archiving of Complementary personnel files including Consultants, interns, volunteers and Gratis personnel. Supports in data management for the Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme; provides substantive data cleansing on a wide range of JPO files including creating and accurately completing data entry into the relevant Human Resource Management (HRM). Reviews data and transactions related to HR services on the Human Resources Information system (including HR Dashboards) including supporting system improvements and implementations; checks discrepancies and coordinates with other staff members as necessary for resolution; responsible for monitoring and reporting on HR statistics, monitors data entry and provides initial approval thereof. Develops, maintains, and updates the relevant databases or spreadsheets and contributes to its design, as and when required; prepares, consolidates and updates relevant statistical reports as requested; monitors various records, forms and tables for accuracy and brings to the attention of the supervisor any issues that may have negative impact. Assists in the day-to-day operations of recruitment services and activities, whether preparing Job Openings, screening of applicants, inviting for tests and interviews or participating in interviews as HR ex-officio; coordinates and follows up on all administrative arrangements including archiving, support in the applicable e-recruitment system and preparing statistical reports, among others. Researches, extracts relevant facts, background information and practices; analyses and presents information with recommendations which can influence the quality of development and performance of other HR actions; prepares summaries in respect of various types of personnel cases; and support ad hoc HR projects. Responds, and drafts responses, to a wide range of correspondences, queries and other communications as assigned by the supervisor, uses standard word processing packages to produce a wide variety of documents and reports. Coordinates with other Units within the Department or with other Departments, in relation to HR functions; prepares regular and ad-hoc reports, including basic translation from Arabic to English and vice versa, as and when required. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
