Australia – Solomon Islands Program Support Plus (ASIPS+) Facility
The Australian Government, through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), has contracted DT Global to establish and manage its multi-sectoral facility, Solomon Islands Program Support (ASIPS+). ASIPS+ is the next phase of Australia’s partnership with Solomon Islands, and will provide logistical, operational and administrative support to Australia’s policy priorities and development program delivery in Solomon Islands.
ASIPS+ works across the Australian bilateral aid program, as well as provides support to the Australian High Commission administrations in Honiara. The in-country ASIPS+ Facility Support Unit (FSU) operates in a complex and evolving context, providing operational services to enable DFAT to meet its goals and objectives in Solomon Islands. The range of support includes, but is not limited to:
· Procurement and contract management of technical assistance in Solomon Islands and remotely, and support to performance management across all sector programs;
· Provision of support services (including logistics and security management) for Australian Government’s deployees and technical advisers; and
· Strategic advice, management and reporting, including program management (education), infrastructure technical management, monitoring and evaluation, strategic communications financial management and grant management.
· The integration of the cross-cutting issues of gender equality, disability and social inclusion, climate change, indigenous participation and localisation throughout program delivery.

The Role
The Solomon Islands National University (SINU) has a need for a highly qualified and experienced Lecturer to contribute to the delivery and academic leadership of the Postgraduate Diploma in Security Studies. This program focuses on contemporary security challenges in the Pacific, equipping students with the necessary analytical skills to address complex security threats, both traditional and non-traditional. The ideal candidate will have expertise in security studies, with a strong understanding of the Pacific security landscape, including issues such as transnational crime, border security, intelligence, conflict resolution, environmental security, cyber threats, and human security.

Qualifications
1. Educational Qualifications
· A master's in security studies, International Relations, Political Science, Strategic Studies, Criminology, Sociology or a related field with extensive professional experience in security policy.
2. Teaching and Research Experience
· Demonstrated experience in teaching postgraduate courses in security studies or related disciplines.
3. Expertise in Pacific Security Issues
· Deep understanding of security challenges in the Pacific, including geopolitical influences, transnational threats, climate security, and regional governance.
· Familiarity with key regional security frameworks, such as the Pacific Islands Forum Boe Declaration and the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential Experience, Knowledge and Skills
1.Industry and Policy Engagement
· Experience working with governments, security agencies, or regional organizations on security-related policies or initiatives.
· Ability to contribute to policy debates and public discussions on Pacific security.
2.Academic Leadership and Collaboration
· Ability to mentor junior faculty and postgraduate students.
· Experience in program development, academic administration, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
3.Communication and Cultural Competency
· Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
· Experience working in a culturally diverse environment, particularly in the Pacific region.
4. Essential to the position:
· Tertiary teaching experience.
· Wide breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in one or more area of security
· Computer proficiency in the standard packages (Moodle, word processing, e-mail and internet use, and spreadsheets)
· Knowledge of traditional Pacific security practices and indigenous approaches to conflict resolution.
· Experience with cybersecurity, intelligence analysis, or defense policy.
