About the Climate Finance Capacity Support Programme
DT Global delivers the Capacity Support Programme for MFAT. The scope of this programme is quite broad as its aim is to be responsive to the needs of Pacific Island countries. It includes providing personnel or training to assist with:
• Delivering and reporting on the flexible finance provided by MFAT;
• Developing/updating national climate change plans and reporting frameworks;
• Developing and investment-ready pipeline of projects;
• Delivering climate change priorities;
• Improving climate finance reporting; and
• Accessing a broader range of climate funding.

The Opportunity
The International Conventions Liaison Officer is a key role in Vanuatu’s efforts to meet its international climate obligations, ensuring that treaties and conventions are effectively implemented and integrated into national plans. This role will be based in Vanuatu within the Ministry of Climate Change, dedicated to maintaining alignment with NAB’s objectives and the requirements of international treaties. The Officer will be responsible for overseeing treaty compliance, advising on legislative impacts, and collaborating with key stakeholders to create cohesive climate policies that reflect Vanuatu’s unique environmental and social context. The International Conventions Liaisons Officer role will enable Vanuatu to actively participate in and benefit from international climate agreements, supporting the nation’s development and resilience goals. The role will play a proactive role in building knowledge and awareness within various sectors about Vanuatu’s treaty commitments, contributing to more informed and coordinated climate actions across government levels. Through this coordination, the role ensures that climate actions are inclusive, aligned with the principles of Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), and tailored to support communities most affected by climate impacts.

About You
Selection Criteria
Essential Experience and Knowledge
• Bachelor's degree in Climate Change, Law, Political Science, or related fields
• 3-5 years of experience in climate policy, treaty compliance, or similar field.
• Advanced research and data management skills and experience.
• Proficiency in English and Bislama.
• Experience with UNFCCC, UNDRR and similar frameworks.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and advocacy.
Desirable
• Knowledge in GEDSI principles and application in policy.
• French speaking is advantageous.
