The Role
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced finance professional to work directly alongside the Bougainville Police Service, supporting effective financial management, strong internal controls and sustainable organisational capability. The role combines hands-on financial management support with mentoring and capacity strengthening.
This position forms part of an MFAT-funded initiative to strengthen back-office operations within the Bougainville Police Service through the placement of in-line (non-sworn) personnel. The Finance Coordinator will be embedded within BPS, providing day-to-day support to the finance function while helping to strengthen systems, documentation and internal controls. The role will contribute to BPS's broader goal of becoming a responsive, modern, transparent and professional policing service.

Key Selection Criteria
· CPA, CA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
· Experience working with Government of Papua New Guinea public financial management systems, processes and controls.
· Experience working within, or in partnership with, PNG or Bougainville government agencies.
· Familiarity with financial compliance, reporting and audit requirements in government, development or donor-funded programs.
· Understanding of Bougainville governance arrangements and development context.
· Proficiency in Tok Pisin and/or other Bougainville languages.
The position is based in Buka, Bougainville. Candidates should be comfortable living and working in a regional location and engaging closely with government counterparts and local communities.
