Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Development System annually produces an Annual Country Results Report which presents the collective development results of the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in support of national development priorities. The report serves multiple purposes: • Accountability to the Government of Malawi regarding the United Nations’ contributions to national development priorities. • Transparency to development partners, civil society organizations, and the public on development results achieved through UN-supported programmes. • Contribution to global UN reporting processes, including inputs to the annual report of the Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG) to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on the functioning of the Resident Coordinator system. In Malawi, the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) coordinates the preparation of the report on behalf of the UN Country Team (UNCT). The report highlights progress made under the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2024–2028 and demonstrates the contribution of UN entities toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Malawi Vision 2063. To enhance the quality, accessibility, and impact of the 2025 UN Annual Country Results Report, the RCO seeks to engage a qualified Graphic Designer to design and format the report in accordance with United Nations publication standards and visual identity guidelines. Under the overall guidance of the Head of the Resident Coordinator’s Office, the consultant will undertake the following tasks: Design and Layout • Develop the visual concept and layout design for the 2025 UN Annual Country Results Report. • Design a coherent visual identity for the report consistent with United Nations branding guidelines. • Structure the report layout to ensure clarity, readability, and visual appeal. • Design the report in A4 publication format, following standard UN publication practices. Visual Content Development • Design and format: Charts and graphs, tables, maps, infographics, and data visualizations • Convert complex development results and statistics into clear visual formats that enhance understanding of UN results. Multimedia and Interactive Elements • Integrate QR codes and hyperlinks linking to human interest stories, videos, and online resources. • Ensure the report is optimized for digital viewing and navigation. Image and Content Integration • Select and integrate high-quality photographs provided by UN agencies. • Ensure images comply with UN copyright and attribution standards. Publication Production • Design index pages, section dividers, and required publication elements. • Ensure consistency in typography, color palette, layout, and visual hierarchy throughout the report. • Ensure accurate visual representation of data and alignment with narrative content.
