JOB TITLE: Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Officer
TYPE OF CONTRACT: International Consultant Level II (CST II)
UNIT/DIVISION: Logistics Cluster
DUTY STATION (City, Country): Juba, South Sudan
DURATION: 11 Months (renewable subject to performance and funding availability)
JOB PURPOSE:
To provide a GIS mapping service for the South Sudan office. Provide technical support in line with HQ policies on the use and dissemination of GIS data.
RESPONSIBILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Master’s degree or Equivalent in Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing or Spatial Information Technology or other disciplines that involve cartographic production and geographic information services and Esri Certifications.
Experience:
For a master’s degree holder, a minimum of five years or for a bachelor's degree holder, at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in geographic information management, particularly within the humanitarian and/or emergencies context, including experience in conflict-affected environments is required. Strong expertise in Cartographic production is mandatory with the experiences in the following areas:
Skills and competencies:
• Experience in working for the emergency operations and/or hardship duty station is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills and commitment to teamwork.
• Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
• Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Working Conditions: The role may involve field travel and participating in emergency operations.
Languages: Fluent in spoken and written English required.
Remark:
The recruitment process serves as a roster for the same or lower grade level positions at different duty stations subject to future operational needs.
