Finance Controller

Role Purpose

The Finance Controller safeguards the financial integrity and sustainability of Save the Children Indonesia by leading core accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, internal control for financial processes, and treasury operations in line with the Member Accountability Framework (MAF).

The role ensures accurate and timely financial statements, leads month-end and year-end closing, manages treasury and cash planning, oversees compliance with tax regulations, and coordinates statutory and donor audits with the Grant Finance team. The Finance Controller provides financial analysis to support informed decisions and organizational planning.

The Finance Controller leads the Accounting and Treasury teams. The role maintains financial controls, including controls over accounting entries, reconciliations, balance sheet schedules, authorization of financial transactions, segregation of duties within Finance, Finance policies, and workflow compliance tied to the ERP financial modules. The Finance Controller is expected to work hands-on when required to ensure accurate financial data, timely accounting, and issue resolution within the financial accounting module. The role also supports a smooth transition to Oracle NetSuite, ensuring discipline and accuracy in finance-related workflows

What You Will Do:

Accounting and Financial Reporting:

  • Lead all day-to-day accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and journal management.
  • Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with Indonesian GAAP and SCI policies.
  • Lead timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing.
  • Produce high-quality financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) and ensure they reflect a true and fair view of SCIDN’s financial position.
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reviews, resolve discrepancies, and maintain strong documentation.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for external auditors.
  • Drive process improvements and optimize the use of ERP and accounting systems.

Treasury and Cash Flow Management:

  • Ensure liquidity and maintain the Cash Adequacy Ratio (CAR) in line with the Cash Policy.
  • Monitor cash inflows and outflows and provide regular cash flow forecasts.
  • Work with grant finance, program managers, and other departments to produce accurate weekly payment forecasts.
  • Manage banking relationships and transactions.
  • Recommend strategies to improve cash flow efficiency and minimize idle funds.
  • Provide regular treasury updates to the CFO and Senior Management Team.

Compliance, Taxation, and Statutory Audit

  • Ensure compliance with all Indonesian tax laws and relevant SCI policies.
  • Prepare and review tax filings, maintain documentation, and ensure timely submission.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes affecting NGO taxation and financial reporting.
  • Lead the statutory audit, ensure timely completion, and coordinate all auditor requests.
  • Oversee and drive closure of management letter findings.
  • Ensure SCIDN’s audited financial statements are publicly available as required

Internal Controls and Policy Oversight

  • Maintain and strengthen SCIDN’s internal control framework specifically related to financial controls, ensuring segregation of duties, proper authorization, and adherence to policies.
  • Review, update, and implement finance and accounting policies.
  • Ensure compliance with SCI’s Member Accountability Framework, reserves policy, and donor requirements.
  • Support grant finance to ensure correct accounting treatment of donor-funded activities.

Team Leadership and People Development

  • Provide clear leadership to the accounting and treasury teams, ensuring alignment with SCIDN’s transformation, Country Strategic Plan, and Finance Purpose and Finance Charter.
  • Lead the Develop to Perform (DtP) process and prepare individual professional development plans with POD.
  • Build a performance-oriented, compliant, and collaborative work environment.
  • Conduct periodic internal reviews in coordination with the CFO

What We Need From You:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; postgraduate degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting/finance with managerial experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Indonesian GAAP, tax regulations, and NGO financial compliance.
  • Experience in international organizations or NGOs managing multi-project, multi-donor accounting.
  • Strong system skills; experience with ERP systems such as Agresso/Unit4, Accurate, SAP, Oracle, or similar.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complexity, and strengthen internal controls.
  • Strong communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English.

Desirable

  • CPA, CA, CMA, or similar professional certification.
  • Experience supporting localization initiatives or working with implementing partners.
