The Field Protection Assistant will support the Protection Unit in Kraków through the implementation of field-based protection activities across the Małopolska region. Key responsibilities will include conducting visits to collective accommodation centres and other shelters, carrying out needs assessments for vulnerable individuals and families, identifying protection risks and service gaps, and facilitating access to available assistance and support services.
The Field Protection Assistant will also organize and deliver information sessions on protection-related topics and access to services, provide guidance and referrals to beneficiaries as appropriate, and contribute to the effective implementation of protection interventions in the field.
In addition, the incumbent will submit weekly field updates to the Protection Coordinator, including progress on activities, key findings, challenges encountered, and achievements against established targets and indicators.
Responsibilities
Tasks to be performed under this contract
- Conduct Vulnerability Assessments during field visits around Malopolaska region • Conduct field visits to different designated locations and conduct thorough assessments to identify the most vulnerable individuals. • Ensure assessed individuals have access to necessary rights and services. • Document findings and share with protection team accordingly as well as update case management plans accordingly. Deliverable: Comprehensive vulnerability assessments for migrants and refugees located inside and outside accommodation centers Timeline: Ongoing, with weekly summaries.
- Information Provision • Distribute accurate information to migrants and refugees related to different services • Collaborate on the creation of information material and sessions as well as leaflets and outreach messages. • Ensure materials are clear, relevant, and culturally appropriate. Deliverable: Provide latest updates and Information to migrants and refugees regarding their stay and access to services including healthcare and social Timeline: updates as required.
- Organize Community Awareness Sessions • Plan and facilitate community meetings. • Educate beneficiaries on protection issues and available services. • Gather feedback to improve future sessions. Deliverable: Conducted information meetings and awareness-raising sessions in location such as shelters, schools and community centers. Timeline: weekly /monthly sessions as required.
- Contribute to Protection Services Mapping • Identify and map available protection services. • Develop and maintain protection referral pathways. • Ensure accurate and accessible referral information for protection team. Deliverable: Up-to-date protection services, maps and referral pathways. Timeline: updates as required.
- Coordinate with external partners and Internal Units • Collaborate with internal units to address comprehensive needs of beneficiaries. • Share relevant information and coordinate support activities. • Attend inter-unit meetings to streamline case management when needed Deliverable: Effective cooperation with partners operating in the field as well as internal IOM units. Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
- School diploma with three years of relevant experience in the humanitarian context in Poland
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in social work, from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of protection-related issues and frameworks, with a strong understanding of the refugee and migrant context in Poland, including key challenges, vulnerabilities, and available support mechanisms.
Languages
For this consultancy:
- Fluency in English and Polish is required;
- Fluency in Russian and/or Ukrainian is considered an advantage.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
