The post holder will develop and implement advocacy strategies to influence the EU's growing reliance on private finance and the private sector in development cooperation - including fragile contexts and humanitarian action and with Global Gateway as the central frame - ensuring it is held to account for its impact on inequality, rights, and the distribution of power and resources. Working through an economic justice and political economy lens, the post holder will strengthen Oxfam's ability to scrutinise who benefits from and who bears the risks of these investments. This means assessing the EU's private finance instruments not only from a technical perspective, but also for their implications for democracy, civic space and public decision-making in partner countries. Beyond research and policy work, the post holder will position civil society as an active player in their oversight, bringing country/regional evidence – LAC, Africa, SWANA and Asia - into EU decision-making. Within this, LAC is a priority region, and the post holder partially coordinates Oxfam's EU-LAC influencing strategy in connection with this work.
At Oxfam we respond to emergencies and advocate for people in crisis, partnering with local organizations to deliver essentials and help rebuild communities. We work with activists and partners to fight poverty and injustice. We campaign for economic, gender, climate justice and accountable governance, striving for sustainable growth and transformation. We fight for a future that is equal, just and fair – one in which people have more equal opportunities and rights, and one in which we can all flourish, not just survive.
