How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance and general supervision of the Chief, Education, P‑4, you support the development and preparation of the Education programmes and are responsible for managing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting the progress of education programmes/projects within the Iraq Country Programme Document 2025–2029.

You provide technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes, especially for activities under Output 1, Education System Strengthening, to facilitate the administration and achievement of results on education programmes/projects to improve learning outcomes and equitable and inclusive education, especially for children who are marginalized, disadvantaged and excluded in society. Under the Education System Strengthening output, increasing emphasis is being placed on strengthening institutional capacity for climate education in response to the growing risks and impacts of climate change in Iraq.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

1. Education: An advanced university degree (Master or equivalent) in one of the following fields is required: education, economics, psychology, sociology, or another relevant technical field.
2. Work Experience: A minimum of five years of professional experience in programme management, education sector planning, climate education, donor management, interagency coordination, and/or research in education is required.
3. Skills in programme planning, results‑based management, stakeholder coordination, monitoring & evaluation, technical guidance and partnership building are required.
4. Language Requirements: Fluency in English language is required.

Desirables:

1. Language: Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable. Knowledge of another official UN language (Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
2. Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
3. Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
4. Experience in managing joint inter-agency programmes and/or EU-funded programmes is desirable.
5. Experience in developing and implementing climate education initiatives is an asset.
