Driver

Objective:

The Driver will be specifically responsible for the office car during his/her employment contract on the needs of Search for Common Ground.

Their role is to support the transport needs of Search Kenya office. This position requires regular travel to project locations to support the implementation of program activities.

Description of Assignments:

• Ensure that he adheres to the safety of the vehicle and staff.
• To operate vehicle and equipment safely and responsibly, and obey Kenyan traffic laws;
• Provide assistance to members of staff and visitors, including travel arrangements, meet and greet visitors and field staff
• To ensure that all passengers in the vehicle use seat belts, and that no people or animals are transported in the loading area where there are no seats or seatbelts;
• To keep the office vehicle free from damage, in the best possible condition, as well as clean both inside and outside. The field driver must ensure that the vehicle is fueled, in proper and safe condition prior to use, and report any damage or mechanical malfunctions in due time prior to use;
• To manage the logistics of various items while in transport, including loading and unloading, ensuring that the cargo is properly secured to avoid damage;
• To maintain an excellent driving record, meaning that a valid Kenyan license must be presented at the time of employment,
• To perform tasks that may require physical labor, and possibly the use of hand tools, such as the change of tyres on the office vehicle when necessary, including in inclement weather conditions;

As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid driving license (Class B, C)
• Has Basic Mechanical repair skills
• At least 3 years of experience preferably with NGOs, Private Sector and/or another formal sector
• Knowledge of driving in Coastal, North eastern and Nairobi and experience driving in remote places
• Spoken and written fluency in English and Swahili
• Defensive driving certification

Duration of the Role:

The driver will be engaged on an employment contract.

Days and hours of work will vary depending on project needs.

Renumeration:

Payment will be made monthly based on Search-Kenya grid salary.
