In Nigeria, one of our key strategies to maximize the impact of our programmes is to deliver geographic and sector convergence in selected Local Government Areas in targeted states that have a higher level of need.

Our programmes delivered at state level are guided by policies at the national level, while impact, results and lessons learned inform every stage of planning and implementation. A comprehensive oversight framework informs all field and zonal offices. While field offices provide a foundation for achieving results, each office is unique in the magnitude and complexity of the issues it faces, and receives technical support from the head office in Abuja whenever the need arises.

The Driver provides reliable and safe driving services while ensuring compliance with local traffic rules and UNICEF protocols.

Drivers are expected to demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, integrity, adaptability and protocol awareness. They are also expected to support administrative tasks and engage in self-directed learning during non-driving periods.

The Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact, a high sense of responsibility, and the ability to work effectively with people of diverse national and cultural backgrounds.

Minimum requirements

1. Education: Secondary Education along with a valid drivers’s licence and knowledge of the local driving rules and regulations
2. Work Experience: Minimum two years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a safe driving record is required.
3. Skills: Safe driving, Defensive driving, Vehicle maintenance, GPS navigation, Route planning, Security protocols, Radio communication, Emergency response, Record keeping, Mobile apps.
4. Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.

Desirables

1. Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chines, French, Russian or Spanish) or local language of the duty station is considered an asset.
2. Experience in airport protocol and remote field driving experience.
3. Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
