Position Objective
The Director of People and Culture is a senior executive coordinating the full spectrum of human resources while shaping and sustaining a strong, values-driven organizational culture at the Green Climate Fund. The Director leads change management efforts across the organization, fostering engagement, resilience, and alignment during periods of transformation and growth. This role is pivotal in ensuring a cohesive, high-performing, and compliant workforce that is fully aligned with GCF’s mission and strategic priorities. The Director of DPC defines and delivers a forward-looking, holistic people strategy that enables the achievement of the Fund’s objectives. A key mandate of the role is to lead and implement organizational transformation, including the evolution to new structures and operating models, ensuring that the organization remains agile, fit-for-purpose, and responsive to a dynamic external environment.
The Director drives organizational effectiveness by establishing robust and consistent approaches to organizational design, workforce planning, and role clarity, thereby optimizing the efficiency and impact of GCF while demonstrating transparency in communication to staff. In parallel, he/she ensures that staff are equipped with the right capabilities through best-in-class human resource systems, talent management, and learning and development initiatives. A core responsibility of the role is to foster a supportive and caring organizational culture that prioritizes staff well-being, engagement, and inclusion, while reinforcing accountability and respect for the Fund’s values.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director serves as a trusted strategic advisor to senior management on all matters related to people, leadership, culture, and organizational change.
