Duties and Responsibilities
Through ESCAP Resolution (E/ESCAP/RES/72/6) on "Committing to the effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific" member States have requested ESCAP's support in promoting the balanced integration of the three dimensions of sustainable development and in providing annual updates and recommendations to member States. The resolution also calls for ESCAP to develop a regional road map for implementing the 2030 Agenda and to address challenges to its achievement in Asia and the Pacific. The support is provided, among other modalities, through the provision of opportunities for a regional and sub-regional dialogue on SDG implementation, such as the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD), and the development of knowledge products to track progress and support stakeholders' engagement. As part of ESCAP's role in supporting SDG implementation in the region, the Statistics Division (SD) has developed statistical methods and tools to assess progress at the regional, sub-regional, and national levels. SD is seeking a consultant on data analysis and effective use of the SDG indicators in support of countries monitoring the SDGs, including for their Voluntary National Review (VNR) in 2027. Under the supervision of the head of the Statistical Data Management Unit (SDMU), Statistics Division, the consultant will be responsible for: a) Source, process, and analyze the latest SDG data following the processes and methodologies adopted by the SD. b) Support project countries in analyzing their latest SDG data and developing accurate and user-friendly SDG progress dashboards for national SDG monitoring, including the VNR. c) Support SD and project countries in the implementation of international data and metadata exchange standards in the dissemination of SDG indicators.
