Sudan is facing one of the most severe humanitarian crises in recent history, with ongoing conflict and instability driving widespread displacement, food insecurity, and disruption of essential services. The impact of this crisis extends beyond Sudan’s borders, affecting neighboring countries such as Egypt, Chad, and South Sudan, which are hosting large numbers of refugees and returnees. The Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in these countries, together with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), are actively responding to urgent needs. IFRC has launched a way of working to support the National Society to become partner of choice and enabling more effective humanitarian outcomes, align with the locally led action, and respecting National Society as the lead actors in their own context.
The aim of this consultancy is to strengthen the capacity of SRCS, and lead, on behalf of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS), three core workstreams essential to the Sudan crisis response: the Way of Working initiative, the establishment and operationalization of Humanitarian Diplomacy and Communications, and the strengthening of local Resource Mobilization. The consultant will report to the SRCS Secretary General and the IFRC Head of Country Cluster Delegation Khartoum. This role is specifically required to strengthen the capacity of SRCS and drive forward these three files by implementing the National Society Roadmaps on Resource Mobilization and on Humanitarian Diplomacy and Communications, supporting the implementation of the Way of Working roadmap, assisting the Secretary General in institutionalizing HD/Communications within SRCS, and advancing the development of a functional local Resource Mobilization department. The consultant may also provide guidance in other related areas as needed.
