Under the direction of the Section Chief (Data Science Section) in the IT Department at the IMF, the Computational Economics Expert provides Fund-wide advanced quantitative solutions that combine computational economics, econometric and machine learning modeling, and modern data engineering. The position works with business and technical partners to understand and solve complex problems supporting the Fund’s business capabilities of surveillance, lending, and capacity development.
The role designs and implements integrated solutions across the economic, quantitative, computational, and data dimensions. Responsibilities include developing economic and econometric models; creating reliable, scalable data pipelines and data platforms; improving algorithms and computational performance; enabling reproducible analytical workflows; and translating emerging research and technologies into practical capabilities. The position also develops sample applications, internal libraries, tutorials, presentations, course materials, and training for technical and non-technical audiences.

Minimum Qualifications
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or relevant field plus a minimum of four (4) years of post-graduation professional experience, or a bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of ten (10) years of post-graduation professional experience is required.
