The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Communications Department is looking for a Communications Officer to work in its Stakeholder Engagement Division.
The Communications Department (COM) is the Fund’s strategic center for communication. It develops and coordinates the IMF’s external and internal communications strategy, shapes the IMF’s key messages, advises IMF Management and staff on how best to convey key messages and engage key stakeholders, and monitors and responds to what people outside the IMF say about the institution and its activity.
The Stakeholder Engagement Division in COM (COMSE) promotes understanding of, and support for, the IMF through two-way engagement with the public and key stakeholders, including civil society, labor unions, think tanks, parliamentarians, youth and academics. The division disseminates information about the Fund, and initiates and facilitates dialogue to build relationships with these and other stakeholders and umbrella organizations. COMSE advises on and plans Management’s public engagements, in close coordination with departments and Management. It also manages the Fund’s Giving Program.

Under the general supervision of the COMSE Division Chief and Deputy Division Chiefs, key responsibilities for the Communications Officer include:
Minimum Qualifications:
Educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree, or equivalent, in Communications, International Relations, Languages, or a related field; or a university degree, or equivalent, supplemented by a minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional experience; or a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience at grade A08, or equivalent, is required.
Desired Qualifications:
This is a one-year contractual appointment. Contractual appointments at the IMF are renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, pending incumbent's performance, budget availability, and continuous business need.
