Duties and Responsibilities
This post is in the Information, Communication and Technology Services Section (ICTSS), at the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). Within delegated authority and under the direct supervision of the Chief of ICTSS, the intern will assist and provide the following duties: • Draft and compile the ICTSS Annual Report, including structured narratives on digital transformation initiatives, service delivery improvements, innovation milestones, and operational achievements. • Collect and consolidate inputs from unit heads and subject matter experts and synthesize technical information into clear, structured communication outputs. • Support the editing and refinement of the ICTSS Strategy document and ensure consistency of messaging. • Prepare and coordinate the quarterly ICTSS bulletin highlighting achievements, ongoing initiatives, key metrics, and success stories. • Develop concise content for totems, digital signage, dashboards, and internal communication materials. • Draft announcements, briefing notes, communication summaries, and other documentation as required. • Liaise with Corporate Communications and Graphics teams to refine messaging and coordinate visual materials for publication. • Attend section and selected project meetings; prepare structured minutes and ensure timely circulation. • Maintain a centralized tracker of action points and follow up with unit heads on agreed deliverables and deadlines. • Develop and maintain a consolidated overview of ICTSS initiatives and progress status.
Qualifications/special skills
This internship is for a duration of six (6) months in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. All costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or sponsoring institution.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
