To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

• Education: A completed bachelor’s degree or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in international development, law, international human rights, social sciences, or another relevant field is required.
• Work Experience: A minimum of two years of professional experience in program planning, implementation and management in child protection related areas is required.
• Language Requirements: Fluency in Spanish and English is required.

Desirables:

• Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French or Russian) is desirable.
• Relevant experience in emergency context is considered an asset.
• Relevant experience in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or international child rights organization is also considered as an asset.
• Experience in normative analysis and knowledge of justice for children and child rights are added advantages.

• Relevant experience in areas such as gender, adolescent development and migration is considered a plus.

• Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is highly desirable.

This position has been assessed as an elevated risk role for Child Safeguarding purposes as it is either a role with direct contact with children, a role that works directly with identifiable children's data, a safeguarding response role, or an assessed risk role. Additional vetting and assessment for elevated risk roles in child safeguarding (potentially including additional criminal background checks) apply.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF.
