This position is responsible for developing, managing, implementing, and monitoring an advocacy and communications strategy and associated products, activities on a regular and ongoing basis with public audiences, and as integrated within the overall office programmatic work, risk management, expanded scope, and results. The position works in support of the strategic objective of promoting awareness, understanding, support and respect for children's and women's rights, the equity focus and support for UNICEF's mission, priorities, and programmes in the country office, at a global level, and those of the UN Country Team.

Under the guidance of the Representative, this position is responsible for developing, managing, implementing, and monitoring an advocacy and communications strategy and associated products, activities on a regular and ongoing basis with public audiences, and as integrated within the overall office programmatic work, risk management, expanded scope, and results. The position works in support of the strategic objective of promoting awareness, understanding, support and respect for children's and women's rights, the equity focus and support for UNICEF's mission, priorities, and programmes in the country office, at a global level, and those of the UN Country Team.

This position is based in Kyiv and the incumbent will be expected be work on-site. However, depending on the security conditions and advisory, s/he will be required to relocate within Ukraine.

  • 1. 1. Education: Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Communications,Journalism,Public Relations/Communication, other related fields of disciplines and any other related fields.
       2. Work Experience: At least 10 years of relevant work experience in Communication, Stakeholder engagement, Strategic partnerships, Resource mobilization and any other related fields. International and national work experience in both developed and developing countries. Professional experience in developing and implementing communication strategies, especially social media engagement. Background/familiarity with Emergency situations.
       3. Skills: Advocacy, Strategic communications, Media relations, Public relations, Digital communications, Brand management.
       4. Language Requirements : English - Proficient/Fluent
  • Desirables
    1. 1. Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language. Knowledge of Russian is a strong asset and is preferred.
       2. Crisis communications experience, fundraising communications experience, media relations experience, monitoring and evaluation of communications, stakeholder partnership development, risk communication experience
       3. Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
