Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of Hydrology and Cryosphere and Chief of Hydrological Monitoring and Forecasting Section, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
(a) Coordinate the update of key hydrological publications including the seventh edition of the Guide to Hydrological Practices (Services part) (WMO-No.168) and the International Glossary for Hydrology (joint WMO/ UNESCO-IHP publication, WMO-No. 385)
(b) Coordinate contributions to strategic plans such as the WMO Plan of Action for Hydrology and Annual Operating Plan (SO 1.3)
(c) Contribute to the preparation of official documents including meeting reports and support Secretariat focal points of HCP and SC-HYD; this includes the intermediate review of the WMO Vision and Strategy of Hydrology 2022-2030 (oversight by HCP) in alignment with the WMO Strategic Plan 2028-2031.
(d) Provide support to the global water processes, including the 2026 UN Water Conference, and liaise with partners, and assist in data collection, analysis, reporting, and outreach related to hydrology and cryosphere.
(e) Assist relevant project officers in the development of project proposals and concept notes.
(f) Perform other relevant duties as required
Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Master’s degree or equivalent in Hydrology, Environmental Sciences or a closely related field.
A first-level university degree or equivalent in Hydrology, Environmental Sciences or a closely related field in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience can be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.
(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)

Salary and Allowances:
The position is funded from the staff common cost.
Annual net base salary on initial appointment is: US$ 56,046
Annual post adjustment on initial salary is: US$ 47,471 (in addition to the net base salary)
