The Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities. Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience.
In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who:
a) have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities;
b) are holding a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations and/or for whom internship is required to complete their studies; or
c) are sponsored by governmental/non governmental institutions and/or academia to work in specific areas relevant to both IOM and the sponsor.
d) are either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months.
e) are between 20 and 36 years of age.
Responsibilities
Supervision
- Under the direct supervision of the Finance Administrative Clerk (Archivist) in Yaoundé, the learning objectives of the selected candidate will be as follows:
Learning Objectives
- Assist the Finance unit in liquidating the Operational advances in Oracle ERP.
- Assist in the verification of staff Travel Expense Claim (TEC).
- Assist in the monthly filing of cash and bank book
- Assist in performing claims checks against documentation to ensure purchases/services are properly authorized, and goods have been received or services rendered;
- In collaboration with operations and other units, participate in the organization of finance needs related to the various operations of the IOM Cameroon Mission.
- Assist in raising the Invoices Submission Tool (IST) for payments
- Other tasks to be assigned during the internship.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
The candidate should:
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of Bachelor’s / Master`s level or equivalent in Archival Science, Library and Information Science, Records Management, Documentation, or any related field;
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- or have graduated with a university degree (not later than 1 year ago) in Archival Science, Library and Information Science, Records Management, Documentation, or any related field;
Skills
- Records and archives management skills, including classification, indexing, and filling (physical and electronic)
- Good command of digital record-keeping tools (Excel, PDF management, scaaning tools).
- Ability to work effectively both on his/her own and within a team of varied cultural and professional backgrounds.
- Ability to pay attention to details and work under pressure and meet deadlines with minimum supervision.
- Familiarity with Sharepoint or other electronic document management systems.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Fluency in French and working knowledge in English
