Office/Unit/Project Description
UNDP is the knowledge frontier organization for sustainable development in the UN Development System and serves as the integrator for collective action to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UNDP's policy work, carried out at headquarters, regional, and country office levels, forms a contiguous spectrum from deep local knowledge to cutting-edge global perspectives and advocacy. In this context, UNDP invests in the Global Policy Network (GPN), which brings together field-based and global technical expertise across a wide range of knowledge domains to deliver the signature solutions and organizational capabilities envisioned in the Strategic Plan.
Within the GPN, the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) leads on developing policy and guidance to advance UNDP’s Strategic Plan. BPPS staff provide technical advice to Country Offices, advocate for UNDP’s corporate positions, represent UNDP in multi-stakeholder fora, and engage in inter-agency coordination across thematic areas.
The Digital, AI and Innovation (DAI) Hub is part of this architecture. It brings together UNDP’s expertise in digital transformation, data, AI, and systems innovation to help countries harness new technologies as enablers of sustainable and inclusive development. The Hub serves as an integrated platform, offering advisory support, technical assistance, and capacity development to governments and partners in over 170 countries. It co-creates digital transformation journeys, strengthens national and institutional capabilities, and mobilizes partnerships to build inclusive digital ecosystems. By leveraging UNDP’s global presence, development intelligence, and portfolio approach, the Hub equips countries to anticipate risks, adapt to uncertainty, and harness digital, data and AI responsibly as forces for people and planet.
