What we do

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose

Veterinary 3 designs, plans, implements and monitors the Economic Security (EcoSec) Unit’s programs in accordance with the objectives and activities set in the PFR yearly exercise and under the supervision of the Head of SubDelegation/JIJ. In addition to that, he provides support to the EcoSec interventions in Oromia, Amhara, Tigray for any issue related to livestock. He represents the ICRC with the livestock local authorities.

Relationships

  • Internally, interacts with the delegation's EcoSec team and with technical reference persons at headquarters or regional level.
  • Externally, represents the ICRC to technical authorities and organizations whose work relates to the EcoSec livestock programme.

Situation Analysis

  • Contribute to the Delegation’s analysis of the humanitarian and economic situation, including displacement trends, needs gaps, and economic/livestock security challenges for target populations (displaced, returnees, host communities).
