Background

UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, helping to end poverty, reduce inequalities and exclusion, as well as protect the planet, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Together, these efforts aim to ensure that improvements in human wellbeing remain within ecological boundaries. We also help countries to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities and institutional capabilities, as well as build resilience, in order to achieve the SDGs.

The Youth Catalyst Portfolio is UNDP Tanzania’s flagship portfolio for advancing youth empowerment, innovation, and entrepreneurship, anchored by the FUNGUO Innovation Programme. In 2026, the Portfolio is transitioning from a phase of intensive implementation toward sustainability, scaling, and deeper policy influence. This shift requires strong, consistent, and evidence-based communications to demonstrate results, elevate youth voices, and position UNDP as a trusted convener and innovation partner.

The Programme Intern will support coordination, monitoring, and delivery of portfolio activities, with a particular focus on partnerships and implementation tracking. This internship also offers a learning opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain practical experience in development and within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary UN environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Strategic Partnership Specialist, the intern will:

  • Support implementation of portfolio activities in line with the Annual Work Plan.
  • Assist in coordination of activities with partners, ESOs, universities, and stakeholders.
  • Support collection, organization, and basic analysis of programme and partner data.
  • Maintain activity trackers, partner engagement logs, and programme records.
  • Support organization of meetings, workshops, strategic convenings and partners
