The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral, and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 100 countries and has 18,000 staff worldwide. ABOUT THE JOB
The ICRC Legal Corporate Adviser Unit seeks a competent Associate Legal Counsel to join our team in Kyiv. The Associate Legal Counsel will provide internal legal support and guidance, ensuring legal compliance across various operational areas. Working closely with senior legal professionals, the role focuses on delivering expert advice on a wide range of legal matters, including but not limited to human resources, logistics, procurement, administration, operations, governance, fundraising, intellectual property, and regulatory issues. A key responsibility of the Associate Legal Counsel is to provide specialized legal guidance on data protection matters, employment and contractual questions, and compliance with local and international laws. The role also involves managing legal claims, assessing organizational liabilities, and supporting the ICRC’s broader activities.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct legal research on regulations, statutes, and case law, staying up-to-date with changes in national laws
- Analyze and interpret laws and regulations, providing accurate and timely legal advice
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, ICRC policies, and organizational standards
