CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
As a member of the Programme Development, Quality and Impact team, the MEAL Officer provides hands-on support and leads on specific MEAL activities. This includes designing and implementing a robust MEAL system in line with SCI standards and procedures, Accountability and Learning Plans; conducting and supporting evaluation studies (baseline, midterm and end line), designing program monitoring tools, ensuring effective monitoring of program outputs and outcomes; and contributing to SCI annual monitoring and reporting. The position also supports effective accountability systems, including beneficiary complaints and response systems; and will contribute to program and organizational learning processes. In line with SCI Egypt’s MEAL approaches, the MEAL Officer is responsible for ensuring all MEAL processes are gender-sensitive, and participatory, including capturing the voice of children. The role includes providing direct, hands-on support for program MEAL activities; providing MEAL capacity building for staff and partners; forecasting MEAL budgets and engaging in MEAL learning processes. The MEAL Officer is expected to work in close collaboration with MEAL Team members, and with program and partner staff.
